Spring has finally arrived! With weather predicted in the 70’s and sunny, this is no time to stay indoors! We’ve got the glorious Cherry Blossom Fest, an Earth Day Celebration, puppet shows, plays and Spring fairs and the opening of Van Saun Park’s Zoo so let’s go!
Saturday April 14th 10:00 AM-12:00 PM (Jersey City) Come on out to Liberty State Park and help clean up the interpretive gardens around the Nature Interpretive Center just in time for spring! Please dress to work outdoors, wear sturdy shoes, and bring work gloves if you have them. Meet up at the Nature Interpretive Center located on Freedom Way. This program is appropriate for adults, volunteer groups, and children ages 5 and older with caregiver. Any volunteers ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult during the entire time they are volunteering. Saturday April 14th 10:00 AM-2:00 PM (Jersey City) Newport Centre is teaming up with Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez and Hudson County Sheriff Frank X. Schillari to offer child identification kits. Hudson County Prosecutor Detectives and Sheriff Officers will be on hand to fingerprint and assist in completing the ID kits for parent retention in Center Court at Newport Centre.

Saturday and Sunday April 14th +15th Times vary Lincoln Center Education proudly presents Big Umbrella Festival, the first month-long festival focused on artistic programming for children on the autism spectrum. Big Umbrella Festival will feature music and theater performances as well as films specially designed to accomodate the developmental needs of this particular audience and their familes. All ages.
Sunday April 15th 10:00 AM-4:00 PM (Paramus, NJ 30 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Party for the Planet at Van Saun Park. Party with the porcupines, prairie dogs and other critters at the Bergen County Zoo’s annual Earth Day celebration. Check out exhibitors throughout the park to learn about eco -friendly products, programs, and services or stop by the Education Center to learn about ways to connect to your local environment. All children will receive a Party for the Planet “passport.” Get the passport stamped by the exhibitors and receive a small prize. Afterward, take a ride on the zoo’s train and the nearby carousel.
