The Gift of Survival

About 10 years ago one of my closest friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. I watched her go through that painful experience and come out the other side. I can only imagine the emotional and physical toll it took on her and her loved ones.

This warrior woman stayed strong for her family and when she had recovered we celebrated her victory with a family portrait. That image of her with her family hangs in her hallway and I am overcome with emotion every time I see it.

Recently we photographed another survivor, Natalie Crews Vargo, and her family and I was reminded of my friend’s struggle and triumph and how much the family portrait conveyed her strength and courage. I want to offer that to every survivor I can.

In 2019, about 268,600 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the U.S. alone. There are also 3.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the world today. If you know of a woman who would like to commemorate her journey through breast cancer we would love to offer her a complimentary family session to celebrate her triumph. Please call me at 201.610.1199 for details.
