Eating Out Hoboken

Hoboken Outdoor Cafes

August in Hoboken is the perfect time to experience one of the city’s lovely outdoor cafes. With half the city either working or on vacation you can spend a quiet hour (or three) with a cup of coffee or a full meal or several cocktails imagining you are dining in an exotic locale.

Anthony David’s 953 Bloomfield Street

Chef Anthony Pino’s 1st restaurant in Hoboken remains a favorite and offers a lovely outdoor area, perfect for summer dining. Breakfast, brunch lunch or dinner are absolutely delicious. This spot should be your go-to and is perfect for entertaining out of town guests.

Elysian Cafe 1001 Washington St

The lovely Elysian Cafe is on busy Washington St. but as it is uptown, the street traffic is lighter and unobtrusive. The flower-wrapped outdoor seating with umbrella tables is ample and surrounds the whole restaurant on both sides. Choose brunch, lunch, or dinner – there is a wide selection of great choices for the entire family.

Bin 14 1314 Washington St.

You have probably seen the front outdoor seating but this lovely wine bar and restaurant also has a secluded back patio perfect for summer dining. The food by Anthony David is always wonderful and as the name indicates, there is a fantastic selection of wines.

Turtle Club  936 Park Ave

This is a great-off-the-main-drag find. An easy selection of salads, burgers and bistro fare and mandevilla plants draping the outdoor patio in pink flowers make for lovely summer dining.

Dozzino 534 Adams St.

Look whats cooking on Adams Street! Dozzino is a favorite among Hoboken families with little ones and boasts a great outside eating area in the rear. Want to play a little Bocce Ball? They have a court in the back.  Play a bit of bocce while awaiting delicious wood-fired pizza.

Hoboken Gourmet Company  423 Washington St

If you love coffee, and dream of brunching outdoors. The Hoboken Gourmet Company is a great choice. It’s not just about coffee, the food is absolutely great. Brunch or lunch is the way to go as they close at 4 pm on weekdays.

Las Olas Sushi Bar & Grill 1319 Washington Street

I love cooler food when the temperature climbs. Sushi is the perfect food for hot summer days. Add the pleasure of a shaded outdoor patio and you have a wonderful summer experience.

Pilsener Haus & Biergarten 1422 Grand Street

If having a giant pretzel as a meal is wrong, I don’t want to be right. The Biergarten is a great place for a brunch , lunch or dinner with the family  (children are permitted until 8 pm). Outdoor seating is limited but the picnic tables and great sausage and burgers make the perfect summer meal. Don’t forget the giant pretzel!

Blue Eyes 525 Sinatra Drive

Probably the best view of all the Hoboken outdoor dining establishments- Blue Eyes is directly on the waterfront with spectacular views of Manhattan. Their menu is an encyclopedia of Italian classics like linguine in clam sauce and veal Milanese as well as salads and pizza. A wonderful place for lunch and dinner while catching the breeze off the river.

Zack’s Oak Bar & Restaurant  232 Willow Street

Offering quietly elegant outdoor eating on Willow Street, Zack’s has a good basic menu of burgers, steaks, and chicken from Hoboken’s Truglio’s meat shop and fresh caught fish.

The Farside 531 Washington Street

Sometimes you just need a dive bar- and bonus if it has an outdoor space! Whether it’s Taco Tuesday or a pop-up blues jam The Farside delivers your quintessential dive bar experience.
