Linda Laymon All Dolled Up
Some people feel as if they’ve hit the jackpot when they become best friends with a plastic surgeon or a chef! I, on the other hand, know that I have hit the jackpot.
My friend, Linda, happens to be a personal stylist and wardrobe consultant, and let me tell you, she can work her way around a closet!
Linda swept into my closet for about ten seconds, pulling and prodding pieces I haven’t worn in who knows how long, and transformed them into the most fab outfits ever. I felt as if I had a brand new wardrobe! Never would I have thought to put the combinations together that she created. Belts and jewelry, bags and shoes…and she did it all before I finished blow-drying my hair.
To top it off, she made me a list of the “missing links”, the “must have” pieces to complete my wardrobe, to make it current and more interchangeable. It’s like magic, really.
I thanked her properly with a great cup of cappuccino! Mac thanked her with some brand new headshots for saving him a giant bundle this season.
If you’re interested in working your wardrobe to its fullest potential, you too can call Linda. She’s the stylist for Hartshorn Portraiture upon request, but works with clients all over the TriState area and in Washington, DC as well. Jen and Macs new home in Hoboken
Purchasing a new home within walking distance of the studio was both Mac and Jennifer’s prerequisite when they outgrew their condo in Hoboken. Taking on a house that had not been updated for decades and needed work in every room to make it habitable was not. However less than three months after signing for the house Mac and Jennifer moved their family into their new home just as a team of workmen moved out. Jennifer wove her magic using soft colors and fabrics throughout and deciding to wait a year or so before doing any major work on kitchen or bathrooms. Mac’s brother, Rob Hartshorn, drove in from Cleveland to paint murals in the girls room on the third floor.
This Christmas, their first in their home, Mac’s family and Jennifer’s mother joined them around the ceiling high tree to celebrate. They also hosted the studio Xmas party one snowy evening a week before the holidays.

Mac suggests wearing clothing in solids or subtle patterns in pastels, neutral, denim, khaki. Soft colors photograph well against the fall colors. Mom’s and girls in skirts or dresses always look pretty.
He also suggests not to match up..ie don’t all wear khaki or deinim bottoms, mix the colors and textures up a bit. Toning and co-ordinating is good. Most important that you all feel comfortable and at your best.
Day time makeup is perfect.
