Ideas for a Summer Staycation

by & filed under Portraiture.

Exploring your backyard with a staycation is a relaxing break and one that’s very special because most of us have never visited the highlights in the area where we live. Here are some great ideas for an ideal staycation.

Go Local Tourism Offices!  When looking for ideas on how to spend your minibreak, check the local travel bureau- like NYC & Co in Manhattan  Park events, exhibits, restaurant and theater deals are just a click away! Take advantage of NY Waterway’s kids ride free Summer program to avoid traffic. In NJ have a look at Visit Hudson County for local fun.

CONSIDER A SPLURGE Since you’re not paying for airfare or spending a large amount of money on fuel, a staycation is a good excuse to spring for an indulgent experience that otherwise is too expensive. You can take a bi-plane ride or a boat tour to Ellis Island, for example, to see where you live from a different perspective.

Don’t over-plan! Choose to plan a few things but as with any vacation, don’t plan too much! Explore an area of town that’s unfamiliar to you- check out the exciting new restaurants that have cropped up in the Greenville area like Pinwheel Garden and Noodle Bar (Asian Fusion) , Olala Empanadas and Hooked JC for local fresh catch fish prepared grilled blackened or fried, all  just outside Liberty State Park. Best- have a break, sleep in and have breakfast in bed or hang out in your pajamas one night while you watch a movie and have 100% grass-fed milk gelato from Bucket and Bay delivered!
