Wedding in Paris

After our Jura mountain escape we swung by the River Soane to pick up our girls and my Mum then headed for Paris. Our friend and ex Studio Manager Alexandra Skuthan was marrying a charming French man, Phillipe Watrelot in a few days time.

My very excited daughters, Madeline and Cameron were to be ‘mademoiselle de honor’- flower girls. They had known about this for over a year so you can imagine the build up to the actual day.

We stayed in a lovely old house, lent by a friend of Phillipe’s family and it was a privilege to stay in a private home right in Paris.

The wedding, a four day extravaganza, started with a picnic at the base of the Eiffel Tower. Next day we all took an evening boat ride down the River Seine which was gorgeous. The marriage ceremony took place at a Russian Orthodox Church in the city on the third day, followed by the reception at a Château in the country outside Paris. Over 300 guests were invited to the church and early reception where champagne and foie gras were offered. Later 100 or so guest sat down to a magnificent dinner, then danced the night away.

The grand finale on day 4 was brunch at Madame and Monsieur Watrelot’s home in Versailles and a quick stop at the Palace on the way home.

This was by far the most fabulous wedding our family has had the honor of being part off and a great finale to a wonderful holiday. Vivre la France!
