Things to DOAnd it’s just getting greener and greener! Take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend to get out and view cherry blossoms, plant stuff, beautify your ‘hood or jump on a pogo stick!

Saturday April 28 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM (Summit, NJ 37 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Little ones love to dig! The Reeves Reed Arboretum hosts a Children’s Gardening Workshop. Join them in the garden as they dig in the soil and plant some flowers and veggies. When the work is done, we’ll celebrate with a special treat. $25 per participant. Best for ages 5-10.

Saturday April 28 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Jersey City) Join the 3rd annual Great Jersey City Clean-Up and help spruce up and beautify your neighborhood. Learn more and volunteer here or call 201.547.4900 for information. FREE. All ages.

Saturday April 28 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Jersey City) Get out in the sun with JC Families’ Fun in the Sun event at City Hall Plaza, Jersey City. Enjoy a Bubble Show, Dance performances, a Touch a Fire Truck and Arts and Crafts Activities. FREE All ages

Saturday April 28th 10:30 AM-11:15 AM (Hoboken) Little Linguists starts off their “Love Your Neighbor” Spring series with a free Frida Kahlo-inspired art class. Open to the first 12 enrollees aged 18 months to 4 years of age. FREE Enroll here.

Saturday April 28th 10:30 AM-12:00 PM (Jersey City) The Galleria Cafe and Hoboken Kids presents a Family Art Event featuring a toddler class, story time, music, puppets, toys and art. Dress for mess! learn more at Hoboken Kids. FREE. Best for ages 6 and under.

Saturday April 28th 11:00 AM-3:00 PM (Harlem NYC) Thomas Jefferson Park hosts Street Games 2018. Play old-school street games from the ’60s and ’70s at our 11th annual Street Games festival in East Harlem! Make your first stop to the NYC Parks booth to pick up a Street Games Passport! Complete 5 out of 10 of the activities on the passport to redeem a prize.

Saturday April 28th 12:00 PM-7:00 PM (Jersey City) Party at the Harsimus Cemetery to Celebrate Mother Earth. Welcome back their four-legged groundskeepers AKA the goats and sheep. there will be eats, treats, tours, crafts vendors and live music. Donations taken at the gate to support Historic JC and the Cemetery. Pay what you wish. Appropriate for all ages.

Saturday April 28th 12:00 PM- 6:00 PM (NYC) What better way to celebrate everyone’s favorite building blocks than with a party? To mark the toy’s 60th anniversary, the American-Scandinavian Foundation will present the exhibition “LEGO Bricks: A Celebration!” Little ones can get their creative juices going by working in an interactive play space, admire amazing mosaics and sculptures and of course, think of creative ideas for their next project. Catch Brooklyn artist Sean Kenney’s work up close and IRL.  All ages. FREE with museum admission.

Saturday + Sunday April 28+ 29 10:00 AM-6:00 PM (Brooklyn) Worth the ride! Head to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens for their annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Enjoy over 60 events and performances celebrating traditional and modern Japanese culture. Buying tickets in advance to avoid the lines is suggested. Adults $30 Students 12+ $25 Under 12- FREE Suitable for all ages.

Saturday + Sunday April 28+ 29  Saturday @ 3pm & 7pm | Sunday @ 11am & 3pm (Hoboken) Enjoy terrific theater for children 4 and up at the Mile Square Theater and their production of “The Garden of Rikki Tikki Tavi” Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book clever comedy about the forging of an unlikely friendship between a self-involved bird, a sweet muskrat and an optimistic baby mongoose. Tickets are $30 for adults $15 for children.
