Saturday June 16th  Creative Play at The Newark Museum (Newark, NJ 10:00 am and 11:00 am) Three to five year olds and their caretakers enjoy a special time before the Museum opens to the public.  Explore the Museum’s art and science collections through storytelling, song, playful activities and an art-making project. June’s focus is: Lights! Camera! Action! FREE

Saturday June 16th Critter Crawl at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum (Summit, NJ 9:30 am – 11:00 am) There’s an entire world of animals hidden from our eyes. Let’s uncover these amazing garden creatures as we explore this unseen world. Registration is required. Ages:  5 – 10. Cost:  Members $10, Non-member $25. Pre-Registration:  Required. Saturday June 16th  Fairy House Workshop by Therese Ojibway, creator of the South Mountain (Raritan) Fairy Trail (Roseland, NJ 11:00 am-1:00 pm) in Essex County South Mountain Reservation, will guide participants in the construction of their own fairy houses at the Environmental Center. Bring a few ecofriendly materials (no plastic!) – such as shells, stones, feathers, twigs to help make the fairies feel more comfortable. Saturday June 16th Sugarsuckle and Serena & James Events (Hoboken, NJ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm)  are co-hosting a tea party to celebrate dads and their daughters. On Saturday, June 16th from 10am-12pm, we will be mixing and baking cookies, making a craft (to be used to hold the cookies) and enjoying story time with snacks and “tea”. Together, take home everything you’ve baked and made, as well as some cherished memories! Recommended for ages 3+. Daddy & Daughter Ticket $65 Sibling Ticket $35

Saturday June 16th Spring Family Fun Day at the Hoboken Historical Society (Hoboken, NJ 12:00 pm- 4:00 pm) Games, crafts, food and live entertainment, including Polka Dot the clown, are all part of the excitement at Hoboken Historical Museum’s Spring Family Fun Day. Polka Dot will entertain from 1-1:30pm and 2-2:30pm. Ben & Jerry’s will provide free ice cream from 2:30-3:30pm. Free hotdogs will be available for everyone. FREE

Saturday June 16th The 36th Annual Mermaid Parade (Coney Island, Brooklyn,  1:00 pm, Rain or Shine) is the largest art parade in the nation. A celebration of ancient mythology and honky-tonk rituals of the seaside, it showcases over 1,500 creative individuals from all over the five boroughs and beyond, opening the summer with incredible art, entrepreneurial spirit and community pride. FREE (please be aware there may be some nudity and may not be appropriate for young children)

Saturday June 16th Family Fun Day at Liberty State Park  (Jersey City, NJ 11:00 AM-3:00 PM) FREE family event with activities for everyone of all ages, with a focus on families with special needs! Feel free to bring your friends and family along as well. Complimentary lunch will be provided to all guests (while supplies last).

Saturday June 16th  Adventures NYC in Central Park  Active families won’t want to miss this massive free annual event at the Central Park Bandshell. This year, activities like rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, zip lining, gaga, mountain biking, yoga, obstacle races and more. Visit nycgovparks.org to find out more about this year’s activities, then lace up those sneakers and go play. Located at the Central Park Bandshell. Ages 4 and up, waiver required for certain activities for children under 18. Saturday June 16th The B All In Foundation  (Jersey City, NJ 3:30 PM- 7:00 PM) presents it’s inaugural B ALL IN Charity game (which hopes to be an annual event) dedicated to supporting youth education in a fun environment. 100% of ticket sales for this event will go towards the Boys & Girls Club of Jersey City who has graciously hosted this event! Help us make the foundation’s first event a memorable one by attending our Charity Basketball Game! Tickets $25

Saturday and Sunday June 16th + 17th Adventures on the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier  (Midtown NYC 11:00 am)  Take on the roles of the flight deck crew in this interactive tour that follows aircraft from the hangar deck to the air and back again. Saturday and Sunday June 16th + 17th  Parade of Trains Vintage Train Rides with the NY Transit Museum  (Brighton Beach, Brooklyn 11:00 am- 4:00 pm) Want to take dad back in time this Father’s Day? Well, the New York Transit Museum is here to provide a blast from the past. Once you swipe your MetroCard during the Parade of Trains event, you and your family can board the subway, but don’t expect your typical commute. The Brighton Beach station B/Q platforms will give riders the opportunity to hop aboard six different vintage train cars, some of which date back all the way to 1904. NYC looked a lot different back then! As much we love a trip to the museum, getting to explore these babies on the tracks is a great way to feel like a turn-of-the-century New Yorker. Sunday June 17th Rubin Museum of Art Block Party (Chelsea NYC 11:00 am – 4:00 pm) Enjoy an afternoon of arty fun at the Rubin Museum’s annual outdoor fete, where the whole family can watch live music and dance performances, participate in art making and nosh on Van Leeuwen ice cream and snacks from Brooklyn Popcorn Truck. This year’s edition gives a nod to the Rubin Museum’s year-long exploration of “The Future” with activities and performances inspired by the theme, including a drone demo and a social timeline. Make sure to spend some time wandering around inside the Rubin, which has free admission all day. FREE
Sunday June 17th  Egg Rolls, Egg Creams and Empanadas Festival (Chinatown NYC 12:00-4:00) Celebrate the cultures of Jewish, Chinese and Puerto Rican communities at the crossroads of the Lower East Side and Chinatown. Only here can you and your little ones marvel at Chinese opera and acrobatics, listen to klezmer, bomba and plena music, plus learn Yiddish, Mandarin and Spanish in the same neighborhood. Encourage your brood to look over the shoulders of a mah jongg pro, make Puerto Rican masks and practice folk arts like Hebrew scribal art and Chinese calligraphy. True to the festival’s name, kosher egg rolls, classic New York–style egg creams and fresh empanadas will also be in abundance. Don’t forget to R.S.V.P. to the event! FREE
