We try to give the girls an appreciation for food by involving them in the process of cooking and our youngest — Cameron — seems to have taken an interest. Her favorite recipe is Banana Bread and she can “almost” cook it herself. We have often been asked for the recipe and I am now willing to share the family secret! The trick is to use larger bananas– it keeps the cake moist.
Hartshorn Banana Bread
- 1 & 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 ripe bananas mashed
- 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
Mix together and spoon into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake in a pre heated oven at 350 degrees for one hour. Cool, slice and eat.…It’s that simple!
