After 10 days on the boat our family took off for our ‘Great Train Adventure’. The plan was to travel on the Glacier Express through Switzerland.
We were thrilled to have my parents join us for this adventure on the rails.

On day one we traveled on five trains starting with a train from the boat to Paris. The TGV train from Paris to Geneva was a 3 hour ride at speeds up to 180 miles an hour.
The train itself had so much room and comfortable seating. How civilized…who needs planes?
From Geneva, Switzerland we took a local train alongside Lake Geneva to pick up the Glacier Express train into the hills of Zermatt.
We hung out the train window for our first sight of the snow capped Matterhorn, the highest peak in Europe.
Cows with huge bells hanging from their neck, glaciers and quaint log cabins with slate roofs provided an amazing view.
