Children grow and change so quickly over the years…It was just four years ago while we were in Miami for Christmas 2006 that I photographed my girls on the beach as they played. As we got back to the studio in January & I was testing new canvas materials and the image on the left caught my eye so I used it as a test print. My wife Jennifer found it and had it stretched and framed and it now hangs in our bathroom!
The color image on the right was taken Christmas Day, 2010. It was a lucky shot in that I was snapping away when the girls caught my eye and just as the déjà vu set in I thought “Oh Yea!”. I wasn’t sure when I took the shot that it would lineup with the previous image we now have on canvas but as you can see its a pretty close match.
Duplicating a shot can be difficult because you never want the image to look forced. That being said, having a similar image of your children that shows their growth overtime can be really cool. If you keep it simple it often works out well.
