Holly Cottage in Bay Head
Mac and Jennifer base themselves in this charming cottage in Holly Street, Bay Head during the summer. Inside, the cottage is full of memories of the ocean, seaglass colors, shells and soft white walls. Comfy sofas and quaint seaside décor ensure comfort and tranquility.
The garden is planted with roses that flower all summer long. This is Jennifer’s favorite spot to drink tea and read newspapers with the girls each morning before the days portrait sessions take place. Friends drop by riding bicycle’s, to deliver breakfast sandwiches or croissants from the local bakery and to share a pot of tea or coffee.
Mac meets clients at the beach or at their own beach cottages at 7am to catch the glowing clear light each morning. Later, he’ll meet Jennifer and the girls for an afternoon at the beach or crabbing before joining his evening clients at 6pm on the beach for a golden sunset shoot. Mac prefers these quiet times at the shore for his portrait sessions. “It’s a lot easier on the kids when the sun is low in the sky, more flattering for everyone. No one has to squint into the light. It’s worth getting out of bed a little early or keeping the kids up later!”
